Session 2: July 14 - 16, Culinary Theme: Flavors from Around the World

Get ready for a fun and educational culinary adventure this summer! ECU’s Department of Nutrition Farm2Clinic Kids Culinary Camp is designed for kids ages 8-11 to explore the exciting world of cooking, food science, and nutrition in a hands-on, creative environment. 

Participants will grow their cooking skills through preparing delicious meals & snacks from scratch, while also learning about nutrition and food science! They’ll also be able to showcase their new skills through fun cooking challenges with friends. 

Our camp is designed to grow participants' reading, math, and science skills as well as their nutrition and health knowledge, build confidence in the kitchen, and encourage teamwork. Multiple camp sessions available (June 23-25, July 14-16 & July 28-30), with sessions running from 9:00am to 3:30 pm each day. Sign up today to reserve your spot!

Camp Details:

  • Session 2: July 14-16 2026, Culinary Theme: Flavors from Around the World
  • Time: 9:00 AM – 3:30 PM (after hours 3:30-5:30 option also available) 

General Camp Schedule: 

  • 9:00-11:00 culinary lesson + cooking lunch 
  • 11:00-11:30 lunch 
  • 11:30-12:00 cleaning up lunch 
  • 12:00-1:30 afternoon activity (nutrition education, food science) 
  • 1:30-2:15/30 Snack prep and eating and clean up 
  • 2:15-30-3:00 Team competition (re-cap key points from the day) for points 
  • 3:00-3:30 pick up 

Location: Health Sciences Building, Health Sciences Campus, ECU, 500 Health Sciences Drive 

Camp Highlights:

  • Learn basic cooking skills with an introduction to basic equipment, basic culinary techniques, following a recipe, and practicing food safety
  • Enhance food and math skills with activities such as nutrition label reading, shopping for healthy foods, and budgeting for meals, as well as food science-lab experiences. 
  • Gain nutrition education, understanding the benefits of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, nuts, seeds, and their impact on health! 
  • Explore food science through fun experiments, such as testing how ingredient changes affect food chemistry and therefore, sensory elements of texture and flavor.
  • Participate in team-based activities and competitions to-recap knowledge and skills while discovering new recipes each session!
*Each camp session varies in recipes, activities, experiments and fun! We encourage trying them all! 
**Camp provides snacks/meals, a t-shirt, as well as fun healthy eating themed stickers 
***Class participants should wear closed toe, comfortable shoes. Disposable aprons and gloves will be provided while cooking.
